What is Permanent Makeup?
Permanent makeup is a cosmetic technique which employs permanent or semi-permanent pigmentation to the skin as a means of producing designs that resemble makeup, such as eyeliner and other permanent enhancing colors to the skin of the face, lips, and eyelids. It is also used to produce artificial eyebrows, particularly in people who have lost them as a consequence of old age, disease, such as alopecia totalis, chemotherapy, or a genetic disturbance.
What is Microstroking?
Microstroking is a (semi) permanent makeup procedure used to correct or enhance the look of your eyebrows, while maintaining a much more natural look than other traditional permanent makeup techniques (tattoo). Sometimes called Microblading or eyebrow embroidery, Microstroking will help to give your eyebrows the appearance of more fullness and maintain the perfect shape. Results typically last from 1-3 years, depending on skin type, age, aftercare, and other environmental factors. Touch-ups are recommended periodically to prevent natural fading.
How is it performed?
Permanent Makeup is performed by using a series of needles much smaller than a standard tattoo needle to manually deposit pigment under the top layer of skin. This technique yields very fine and precise lines or shading that mimic the look of natural hairs or makeup.
During a one-on-one consultation before the procedure, your permanent makeup artist with work with you to determine the perfect eyebrow shape and pigment color, based on your hair color, skin tone, preferred results.
How long does it take?
Your Microblading process starts with a 20 minute consultation (typically on a date prior to your procedure). During the consultation, your permanent makeup artist will discuss your expectations and answer any questions you may have. In some cases, either you or your permanent makeup artist may determine that you are not a good candidate for the Microblading procedure. This is typically due to current medical conditions (see list below) or unachievable results based on your expectations.
The Microblading procedure typically takes between 2-3 hours. Other permanent makeup procedure times vary.
Is it safe?
The procedure is performed in a clean and sterile room, using sterile one time use needles and hypoallergenic pigments. Our salon and permanent makeup artists adhere to strict statewide guidelines to ensure your safety and comfort.
*It is important to note the pigments we use are not the same pigments used by traditional tattoo artists. Our semi-permanent pigments are specifically designed to fade over time. This allows for flexibility as your natural skin and/or style preferences change over time.
